Dear Steve,

Thank you for your interest in the history and development of the Dighi Boys’ Hostel. Below are answers to your questions:

  1. When did the Boys’ Hostel start?
The Bethel Boys’ Hostel began in 1968 in a bamboo hut that housed 10 students. This was located at the same site where the hostel stands today.
  2. When did Norwegian funding start?
Norwegian funding began in 1982. While their support was significant, there were periods of challenges with funding along the way.
  3. When was the current building constructed?

The construction of the Dighi hostel building happened gradually over time:

1974: The kitchen, store, and dormitory next to the store were constructed without a proper foundation (In those years it was such a construction pattern). These structures have been repaired repeatedly and much is now in critical condition. For this, we have sent you a request for the immediate safety of the hostel children. We are praying that we can start this work as soon as possible. January 1, 2025.

1988, 1991, and 1999: In these years, additional rooms were constructed, forming the rest of the building.

We hope this clarifies the timeline of the Dighi Boys hostel’s development.
